There is a bit of blog dorama out. It’s related to a fansub documentary on youtube. It seems Hinano had taken the side of the author that fansubs are indeed ruining anime. While IcyStorm seems to take the opposite side of the argument. It seems like a big whole debate that no one can win. Not totally sure why they are trying. It like the argument of whether Macross is better than Gundam. (BTW, Macross is superior to Gundam. Just thought I throw out there.) I’m not totally sure if fansubs are ruining anime. It maybe slowing killing it but who knows. But I do have a few comments to add.

The documentary is more about how fansubs are ruining anime. Besides being a bit misleading subject about fansubs. I’m sorry a fansub documentary should be about what I would expect it to be about. The history and development of fansubs not this. The author of the video should have renamed. I actually like all the pretty fonts and the karaoke for the OPs. It shows they took the time to actually do some work. Not just plaster text up. Of course, the subtitles are the most important part of a fansub. But its ok to put some nice fonts now.

Now there are a few thing I don’t like about fansubs. Like why do they have to translate what onii-chan, the honorific, or other Japanese words of similar nature. I like those Japanese words and I know what they mean. It is exactly what they are saying. And another I don’t like is that sometimes they make the fonts a bit big and some get in the way. And one last thing, I don’t like they way fansub groups put a logo up or their own credits. It seems like disrespect.

I don’t think fansubs are entirely ruining anime. But its just like anything else. It has its problems as well. Nothing is perfect especially if it involves humans.

Also I don’t like how people don’t put up counterarguments. You need to look at both to get a clear picture of your topic. You get all sides of it when you do that.

And why am I writing posts that involve Hinano. She just happens to be writing things I wanna comment on. It’s just that I like her blog and reading her opinions. I have respect for her. I guess.
